We docked in Christchurch, Lyttelton at 8:00 AM and will leave at 6:00 PM. Christchurch has a city population of 348,400 and is near the middle of South Island, on the East coast and allows the residents and visitors to enjoy sea and shore, river and lakeside, alpine and forest recreation in an agreeable climate. It is often described as the most English city outside England. The sunrise was beautiful and then we boarded a motor coach and went to Manderley Farm where our hosts, Ross and Mary Millar welcomed us and introduced us to their friendly sheep dogs and then entertained us with a demonstration where the dog herded the sheep down from the hills. After that we had a sheep shearing demo and then morning tea with homemade goodies.
Off to the city and a stop at the historic Arts Center and the Botanical Gardens. Photos will follow.
